Image to PDF Online
Build a neat PDF packet from photos, scans and screenshots.
One image, one PDF page
Image to PDF builds a PDF in the browser with jsPDF. Every image you add becomes its own page, in the order shown in the file list. The tool does not tile four photos onto one contact sheet. That grid is Collage Maker, which exports a JPEG, not a PDF. If you need both, make the collage first and then send that single JPEG through this page if a PDF wrapper is actually required.
Page size has two modes. “Fit each page to its image” makes the PDF page follow that picture. “A4 portrait” puts each image on a fixed portrait page with a 40 point margin and centers it. A landscape photo on A4 stays on a portrait sheet. Fit mode is the one that can open a landscape page when the picture is wider than it is tall. There is no letter size and no A4 landscape switch.
Both modes do the same prep before the PDF is written. The long side is scaled down to at most 2200 pixels, the bitmap is flattened onto white, and it is embedded as a JPEG at quality 0.9. A transparent PNG will not stay transparent. Text inside the photo stays painted. You will not be able to select it later.
The download is always named imageswift.pdf. A second run overwrites that download name. Rename the file if you are making more than one document. The original images stay where they were. The PDF is a new file.
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Order | List order. One image per page. |
| Fit | Page follows the image, with a 2200 pixel cap on the long side. |
| A4 portrait | Fixed portrait page. The image is placed to fit that page. |
| Filename | imageswift.pdf |
| Network | jsPDF runs locally after the library loads. The images are not posted to ImageSwift. |
What the PDF is good at, and what it ruins
This is a picture document. Text inside the photo stays painted into the image. You cannot select it, search it, or copy a sentence out. A scan of a contract becomes a PDF of a picture of a contract. If someone later asks for a Word file with live text, this page did not create one. PDF to Image goes the other direction and will rasterize such a PDF again. Round-tripping will not produce a text layer.
Transparency does not survive in a useful way inside a typical JPEG-backed PDF page. A logo PNG with a clear background is flattened by the time it is embedded. Put the logo on the background color you want before you build the PDF, or accept the white that shows up behind it.
Documents that match the two page modes
- A stack of receipt photos for an expense email. Fit mode, one photo per page, in the order you will talk about them. Rename
imageswift.pdfbefore you attach it. - A homework sheet that must be A4. Choose A4 portrait and check that each photo is upright first. Rotate sideways pictures on the rotate page before they become pages. This tool will not turn a landscape bitmap onto its side for you.
- A single high-resolution artwork for a printer who asked for PDF. Fit mode keeps the picture large, up to the 2200 pixel cap. If they demanded a specific millimetre size with bleed, this page is too blunt. It has no bleed box.
- Four holiday photos on one page. Do not expect that here. Build a collage, or accept four separate pages.
Steps
- Add the images in the order you want as pages. That list order is the page order.
- Choose fit or A4 portrait.
- Create the PDF and wait through the “Adding image” status. Large files take a moment because each one is drawn down to the cap.
- Open
imageswift.pdfand check page count against the list. One image that failed to decode is a missing page, not a blank you can ignore.
Frequently asked questions
Are the images uploaded?
No. The PDF is built in the browser. The jsPDF script may be fetched from a CDN the first time. Your pictures are not sent to ImageSwift.
Can several images share one page?
No. Each file becomes one page, in list order. Use Collage Maker if you want a single grid image.
What is the difference between fit and A4?
Fit sizes the page to the image, after scaling the long side down to at most 2200 pixels. A4 portrait uses a fixed portrait page and fits the image onto it.
Why is the file named imageswift.pdf?
That is the download name for every run. Rename it on disk if you are creating more than one PDF.
Can I copy the text out of the PDF?
No. The pages are images. Text you can see is painted, not a text layer.
How do I fix a sideways page?
Rotate the image first, then build the PDF. This page does not include a rotate control, and A4 portrait will not flip the page to landscape for you.
